Measuring of accumulated dirt and debris depth in ducts

Main application areas

- Kitchen ducts, restaurant exhaust ducts, ventilation ducts

Main functions

- Measuring dirt and debris depth using laser irradiation

- Remote monitoring of interior areas with image capturing

- Temperature measurement adapted to high temperatures

- Alert function triggered by specified temperatures

The process to develop the TK-2000J

1  Development was abandoned due to seasonal variations in measurement accuracy caused by changes in the speed of sound depending on temperature and humidity

2  Measuring the depth of accumulated dirt and debris proved difficult with current image processing technology

3  Development was focused on measurements using light, but because the measurements are performed in an enclosed space, diffuse reflection made measurements impossible

March 2022

A centroid triangulation method is established using diffuse reflection of light

October 2021

T-SENSOR T-1000J for remote monitoring is launched

January 2022

Development of the heat-resistant, chemical-resistant, Fire Service Act-compliant multi-sensor TK-2000J is started

Development specifications: Equipped with duct monitoring and depth sensing functions

Capable of measuring the dirt and debris depth in ducts

By measuring the depth of dirt and debris inside the duct, oil films and other buildup that can cause fires can be cleaned at the right time.

The sensor is installed in the duct.

Ensuring a distance

of 100 mm

In the case of kitchen exhaust ducts, the TK-2000J meets the provision set out in the Fire Prevention Ordinance (No. 65) that states that there must not be any flammable materials within 100 mm of the duct surface.

Laser

Measurable up to 150°C

Can be used for ducts in high-temperature environments such as restaurants, etc., as the TK-2000J uses a thermocouple to measure temperatures.

Centroid triangulation method

1.A reflector is installed to ensure a separation distance of 100 mm   between the laser source and the duct surface, and the laser is irradiated at a fixed angle.

2. Multiple images are taken to improve measurement accuracy by              calculating the coordinates of the bright spots and centroid.

3. The accumulation of dirt and debris in the duct causes the centroid to shift, allowing the depth to be measured.
